MONEY FOR WAR WEAPONS

The paper asserts that the secretly reconstru'cted Generail Staff is using the Ministry of the Interior to develop a purely military organisation and to arrange mobilisation machinery. It has doubled the army of JOO.OOO men authorised by the Treaty of Versailles by the inclusion of legal volunteers who with 150,000 military police and anti-Lstrike and anti-revolutionary corps numbering 200,000 to 300.000, aggregate 600,000 ready for action. Large reserves are available ’from gymnastic, walking, glee, students’ and veterans’ clubs clandestinely trained in military matters. Money that should have been paid for reparations has been sunk in strategic railways, guns, experiments, tanks and new gas. The sole security for peace is the French, occupation of the Ruhr because, without the Ruhr factories, the necessary huge quantities of ammunition would not be available. When the Krenteh leave the Ruhr Europe will lose the last remaining guarantee of peace.
