INGLEWOOD NEWS.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Mr. D. Hart, who has been teller at the Bank of New Zealand for some time, has received word of his transfer to AA’ellington. Although pleased to hear nf Mr. Hart’s promotion, his many friends will be sorry to know he is leaving Inglewood. Mr. Hart leaves by the mail train on Monday morning.
Th? funeral of the late Mr. B. Lawrence took place on Thursday, leaving the English Church for the cemetery. There was a large attendance to pay their last respects to this very popular young settler. The Rev. Stanton officiated at the graveside. The winners at the euchre tables at Thursday night’s band social were: Ladies: Mrs. F. Spurdie 1, Mra. T. Lindsay 2. Men: Miss Rogers 1. Miss Andrews 2. Owing to a shortage of men players these two ladies played as men. The takings amounted to £.26 17«, and the band committee are highly satisfied with this result.
