jnos DAIRY PRODUCE PRICES. BUTTER DULL; CHEESE QUIET. FALL IN DANISH BUTTER. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received March 21, 7.55 p.m. London, March 20. The butter market Is very dull. Choicest New Zealand is quot'ed at 170 s per cwt.; Australian, 160 s per cwt. The principal importers, having agreed not to sell below these prices this week, buyers are indifferent, and sales are few and far between.

Danish has fallen to 196 s per cwt., owing to the cessation of American purchases and a considerable diminution of German purchases, which left the Danes with a much larger surplus than has been the case for two months.

Argentine is very plentiful, and is selling at 120 s to 140 s per ewL

The cheese market is quiet. Quotations: New Zealand white, 82s per cwt.; coloured, 82s to 84s per cwt.

CANTERBURY MARKETS . DULL WEEK EXPERIENCED. Christchurch, Last Night. The produce market business Is decidedly dull, and no line shows a tendency to advance in value. Very little trade Is being done with the North Island. At the beginning of the season it appeared as though a lot of business would eventuate, but it. practically ran itself out. at the end of January, and has since shown no sign of a revival. Partridge peas arc still weak, with no indication of an improvement. The best lines are worth 6s Gd on trucks to farmers. Chaff continues weak, and merchants are not now offering more than £5 15s to £6 on trucks. Cocksfoot shows no improvement and the standard 16 —17 found machine dressed seed may be bought at Is. Very little wheat is finding its way Into the. merchants’ hands. Il Is considered a lot must still be held in the country, as ft cannot all have been sent into the market. Potatoes are not being offered to any extent by growers, who are understood to be awaiting the result of a deputation to Mr. Massey In respect of the Importation of Australian pot&tots.
