Amid a pandemonium of shrieks and yells from the occupants of the restaurant, the other members of the orchestra attempted to seize the triumphant assassin, live in succession paid for the attempt with their lives, three being killed outright, while two others died after their removal to the hospital. Then, his ammunition exhausted, the murderer turned his last, shot on himself, and fell dead amid the corpses of his victims.
