ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
KILLED IN A TUNNEL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Whangarei, Last Night. A fall of earth at 1.15 a.m. in the Tokatoka railway tunnel, near Waiotira, crushed Axel Roos against timbers, killing him instantly. Deceased, who was aged forty, was married with one child. He was working on the night shift. OLD MAN’S DEATH. Auckland, Dec. 21. William Betts, aged 62, a man of no definite abode, was rescued alongside the wharf in the harbour at midnight and died in hospital this morning.
