TOWN v. COUNTRY. COUNTRY TEAM LEADING. LASH MAKES 38. Wellington, Last Night. The cricket match, town v. _country, for the purpose of choosing the final eleven for the Plunket. Shield matches was played on the Basin Reserve to-day in fine weather. The country team won the toss and batted first. They compiled 193, of which Collins played a fine Innings for 60 and Lash (New Plymouth) made 38. Orr 27, Bull 19 and Hope 11. Brice, bowling wJGi fine judgment, secured four wickets for 45, while McGirr captured four for 42. The town team's innings was nothing more than a procession, totalling only 89. Hiddleston made 16, Dempster 15. Nelson 10 and James 10. Bernau took five wickets for 46 runs, including the hat trick, dismissing in succession Kortlang, White and McGirr.
