INCREASE OF REVENUE. WEEK OF HEAVY TRAFFIC. OVER 10,000 OX FRIDAY, The New Plymouth tramways carried 47,583 passengers and earned £4Ol 6s 4d during the week ended last night. Compared with the corresponding week last year, these figures show an increase of 12,396 passengers and an increase of £29 14s 4d in revenue. The recent spell of summer has increased the number of travelers, the traffic on the breakwater line, particularly during the fine showing a marked growth, while during the past two weeks the revenue has Received a fillip owing to the slight increase made in fares. Thik week’s figures, (have had further assistance from the Weatown extension, on which full service was running during the last three days of the week. Friday’s travellers passed the ten thousand mark, nearly eight thousand used the tyapas on Saturday, and totftl was 4447.- The band was at yesterday afternoon, and extra cars were employed to carry the large number of people visiting this locality. ■ s .
