DOMINION PREFERENCE.
TAX ON APPLES OPPOSED. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Nov. 30, 8 p.m. London, Nov. 30. The Daily Chronicle states that three hundred wholesale fruit buyers at Liverpool protested to the Government against the tax of five shillings a hundredweight on foreign apples. They state it is impossible for the Dominions and home producers to supply the demand for another ten years. The duty will curtail American supplies and cause an increase in price.
