TRAIN DERAILED.
SOUTH ISLAND ACCIDENT. NO ONE SERIOUSLY INJURED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Ashburton, Last Night. This morning a train from Springburn was derailed after passing Valetta, eighteen miles from Ashburton. Several passengers were thrown from their seats and slightly hurt, but no one was seriously injured. It is surmised a piece of timber fell off a derailed truck and the coupling behind the first car broke, resulting in the second car and the van being also derailed. T‘ > passengers were conveyed to Ashburton v motors. This is the third derailment on the Mount Somers line in eighteen montha.
