FOOTBALL ON SUNDAY.
QUESTION OF PLAYING FIXTURES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, June 14. The question of Sunday football was re-opened by a letter from the Buller Union last night, when the New Zealand Rugby Union met. The union" directed attention to its question as to whether it had power to make Sunday fixtures and asked for a reply. The contention of the Buller Union was that the matter ae to whether official fixtures should be played on Sunday or any other day mas a matter for purely local settlement. . but that, as the matter was questioned, they had submitted it to the N.Z.R.U. for a ruling. The New Zealand Union to its previous decision that it was n matter for loeal jurisdiction, but it disapproved of Sunday fixtures.
