TARANAKI STOCK MARKETS. FARMERS’ CO-OP. REPORT. The Farmers’ Co-operative Organisation Society of New Zealand, Ltd., report for the week ending 9th instant as follows: Sheep.—There are very few lines of store sheep offering and anything coming on. th 4 market is readily enough placed, provided that the vendors’ ideas of value are not too high. Good m,s. hoggets are making from 21/6 to 22/6, fair to good 20/- to 20/9, others to 18/-, mixed aged ewes in lamb to b.f. rams 28/- to 30/-, young ewes in lamb to Romney rams 29/to 31/-. There has been little or no business done in fat wethers, owing to vendors hanging out for high prices. So far as wc can see there are plenty of fat sheep in the district for immediate requirements, and unless ■ we have some outside demand it will be some time before values show any advance.

Fat Cattle.—There has been a good demand for extra prime cows and bullocks during the last week and a good number of sales have taken place. Fat cows are scarce and prices have every indication of rising. Ox beef is worth from 20/- to 22/6 per hundred, and we believe that some sales have been effected at up to 25/-.

Store Cattle.—Grown steers are enquired for, in fact, steers of any description arc hard to get. We v/ill be pleased to have particulars of any store cattle our clients have for sale. Dairy Stock.—Owing to the near approach of many dairy clearing sales, business in the paddock has been quiet, buyers in most cases preferring to wait until a few of these sales have taken place. We have sold a few herds privately at from £lO to £l2.

At Manaia on Tuesday we had a fair yarding. Store cows for export made from 25/- to £2, light young sound cows to £2/5/-, fat cows £4/10/, best Jersey weaners £6 to £6/6/-, mixed weaners to £2/7/6, in-calf Jersey heifers good £l2 to £l2/15/-, fat sheep 28/-, store pigs 25/-, slips 17/-.

On the same day at Stratford a fair yarding of store and forward cows, which sold at improved rates, boners 30/- to £2/5/-, fat and forward cows to £3/10/-, weaners good Jersey cross to £4/15/-, mixed weaners 30/- to £2.

On Wednesday at Inglewood a good yarding. Grown cattle sold at improved prices. Dairy heifers and weaners poor demand. 18-month steers £2/10/-, 2-year Jersey cross in-calf heifers £6, others £4 to £4/10/-, fat lambs 24/6, dairy cows £6| to £l2, Jersey weaners £5/4/- to £5/14/-.i On Friday at Auroa there was a fair) entry, which sold at late rates. On the same day we conducted a clearing sale on the Fork Road, Midhirst, on! account of Mr. Anderson. Owing to thej poor factory returns there was a small attendance of buyers. Prices were from £6 to £9/15/- for dairy cows, horse £B, sundries at late rates.
