POSITION OF THE COMMUNISTS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, June 12. The Labor conference approved of the abolition of the pre-election ballots and appointed a committee to devise a substitute scheme. There was considerable discussion on the question of the standing of the Communist Party created by the adoption of the resolution in favor of its affiliation with the Australian Labor Party. The chairman, Mr. Willis, ruled that from the Labor standpoint the Communist party had ceased to exist as an independent party. The conference by vote upheld this ruling. Previously Mr. Willis had pointed out that the proposed admission of Communists simply meant that such proposal was to be submitted to the next conference. Pending that, the position had not been altered, the conference having expressed an opinion on the principle only. FREEZING WORKS FATALITY. Sydney, June 12.
