NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. A flag match was played at. Waiwakaiho on Saturday, 50 players taking part. The course and greens were in good order, but a stiff mountain wind made scoring difficult. Despite these conditions, the play wail much above the average. S. F. Burgess (handicap 14) won the senior competition, having one stroke in hand after completing the course, and finishing nt the foot of the hill on the 19th fairway. Many of the other players were close up. Johns (4). Butcher (4), Wilson (10), Johnson (ID, and Bloxam 16) all finished on the 18th green, while Smith (2), Chong (4), and Haseil (6) reached the 18th fairway. V. Dalgleish (20) out-distanced the rest of the juniors, having four strokes in hand after playing the 18th, and leaving the flag a few inches from the 19th hole. Archer (22) and Laurie (20) both reached the 18th hole with their last stroke, and Donovan (22) was a few inches short. There will be no competition next Saturday, this day being left open for friendly matches. Where possible, players are recommended ... arrange four-ball games, ns these cause less ' congestion at tha starting tee.
