ATHLETICS.

’VARSITY CARNIVAL IN AMERICA. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright, Received April 29, 5.5 p.m. New York, April 28. At Philadelphia, England’s colors were lowered in the first event of the University of Pennsylvania relay carnival, when Morgan, of the Oxford team, finished a bad sixth in the two mile international run, which Columbia won. Morgan started well and led the field for nearly half the distance, but he gradually dropped back. Oxford won the mile sprint, Medley and Stevenson finishing seven yards ahead. The British representatives led at G6O yards, but yielded at 889, when Milligan (the Oxford captain) began reducing Georgetown’s lead. Milligan leaped ahead in the last 100 yards, gaining a seven yards’ lead, which Stevenson maintained to the last.
