WHITELEY CHURCH.
The services at Whiteley Memorial Church veaterday were chiefly in the interests of the young people of the congregation. The Young Worshippers League was well-represented at the morning service, and the Rev. M . J. Elliott based his address on the text, “The Lord is my rock and fortress.’ During the course of the service, the rite of baptism was administered, when by means of this sacrament the infant daughter of the Rev. C. H. and Mrs. Kendon, of Kaponga, was “received into the congregation of Christ’s flock.’ Mr. Elliott then presented over 30 certificates for attendance on public worship to members of the Y’oung Worshippers' League, and Mr. R. Laurie Cooper, superintendent of the Sunday School, briefly explained the objects of the league. In the evening the sermon wa.« chiefly addressed to young women on “Rhoda, tho Judean Rose.” The preach er explained that the name meant a rose, and bo expounded the various qualities of beauty, fragrance and usefulness manifested by Rhoda. Spiritual beauty of character was set forth as the supremo attainment of life. The address was reverently listened to by a large congregation. The choir rendered the anthem “The Radiant Morn,” by Woodward.
