TIDAL WAVES IN PACIFIC. ISLANDS SWAMPED. VOLCANOES ACTIVE. By Telegraph.—Press Asin.—Copyright. 'Received Feb. 5, 12.5 a.m. New York, Feb. 3 The- local seismographs report terrific eurth upheavals 5000 mile* away, probably in the bed .of the Pacific. Despatches from Hawaii report four tidal waves, inundating a large distance inland and many islands, and swamping fishing boats, with loss of life. It is 'believed thu* far ten Japanese have been cut off from communications.
Volcanoes, which wore believed to be extinct, have erupt, but with minor intensity.
