MR. HUGHES RESIGNS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Feb. 2, 11.5 p.m. Melbourne, Feb. 2. At a meeting of the Nationalist Party Mr W. M. Hughes resigned, and Mr Bruce was elected loader of the party. Mr Hughes, in tendering his resignation, said he would recommend the GovernorGeneral to commission Mr Bruce to form a new Ministry CAUSE «OF DISAGREEMENT. Melbourne, Feb. 2. Negotiations between the Nationalist and Country parties for a working agreement have been broken off. the split occurring over the Country Party’s demand for the unconditional retirement of Mr. Hughes.
