'Although the Palestine and Syrian mandate-, as confirmed by the League of Nations, offered no surprise for either country, an anti-mandate outbreak occurred at Sonanda. where a body of Druses, under Sultan Pasha Atrash. attacked a French cavalry column. killing two officer* and seventeen troopers, and capturing prisoners and material. The insurgents brought down a French aeroplane at Esrali. The populace of Djaroud stormed the military post there, and killed fifteen soldier*.
