At the annual dinner of the Chambers of Commerce, Mr. Bpice (Federal Treasurer), Urging the necessity for the strictest economy and the fullest developmental work towards relieving the stress of the world’s financial condition, said that as the cost of Ijying goes down the worker must realise that his nominal wage must come down, because there will be no retrogression in the standard of living attained. He added: “We must work the full period in a day and give the fullest return in our power. It is negation of this that causes tlte whole trouble.” —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
