BIBLE CLASS UNION.

CAMP NEAR WANGANUI. PRESBYTERIAN GATHERING. By Telegraph,—Press Association. Wanganui, Last Night. The biggest Easter camp ever held by the New Zealand Presbyterian Young Men’s Bible classes union has just ended after a most successful and enjoyable session. The camp was located at Sandy Hook, on the banks of the Wanganui River, about five miles above the town. The site proved ideal for the purpose, being within reach of the trams and yet possessing the charms of rural isolation. About four hundred and thirty delegates from all parts of New Zealand were present, and these were comfortably accommodated, the local committee having made very complete arrangements. WSth the exception of Friday evening, when a small cyclone threatened to wreck the camp and succeeded in tearing down a big marquee in which meetings were held, the weather was delightful. The health of the camp was remarkably good, and there was an almost total absence of complaints. The principal speakers were the Rev. Wl J. Comrie .(moderator-elect of the Presbyterian General Assembly), Mr. G. Manson (president of the union), the Revs. A. R. Stone, Frazer Barton, W. Bower, Black, J. McKenzie, and other Bible class stalwarts. Once again history repeated itself. When the camp was held at Wanganui fourteen years ago it was resolved to send a special missionary to China. At the camp held at Wanganui this year it was decided to extend the missionary activities by sending Mr. Morton Rybum to India.

The union decided to stand solidly by the New Zealand Alliance in its prohibition effort this year. The annual athletic competitions evoked much interest. The shield, which replaces the old banner, was won by St. Paul’s, Wanganui. The local management made special arrangements to keep the camp open an extra day free of charge to campers, in order that the visitors might see the sculling championship.
