TRIBUTES TO HIS WORK. HELP TO BLIND SOLDIERS. By Telegraph Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Reference to the death of Sir Arthur Pearson was made in the House to-day. Mr. Massey said he desired to say something concerning a prominent man whose death was recently reported in the cables. He referred to the late Sir Arthur Pearson, I who had been such a magnificent friend | to New; Zealand’s blind soldiers. He Sir Arthur’s career, and how he lost his"' sight, and said that by his death Britain had lost a remarkable man and a very useful citizen. The news of his death had been received with profound regret, and he had under the circumstances taken the opportunity to send a cable to Sir Arthur’s son, expressing New Zealand’s sympathy' with the family in the bereavement they had suffered. Mr. C. Mackenzie (Auckland East) said Sir Arthur Pearson was the best friend the New Zealand blind soldiers had. They were looking forward to his promised visit to New Zealand, from which they expected great results. That was not now possible, but he thanked the Premier for his thoughtfulness in sending a cable of sympathy to Sir Arthur’s family.
