BOROUGH COUNCIL. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Nov. 10. The regular monthly meeting of the Inglewood Borough Council was held in the Municipal Chambers on Tuesday night. The Mayor (Mr. J. R. Sutherland) presided, and , there were also present Crs. W. H. Eagar, D. T. Eagar, R. Fawcett, R. J. Frewin and F. Spurdie. The clerk was instructed to send warnings to all persons reported for irregularities by the ranger. Permission was granted to Mrs. J. Wilson to hold a street mart on Saturday, 19th instant, in aid of the Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Union. It was resolved to support the Auckland City Council in its protest against certain of the clauses included in the Motor Vehicles Bill, 1921, chiefly having reference to diverting the revenue accruing to local bodies by way of licenses collected. The works committee’s report was received and adopted. It was resolved to raise the crossing into Huston’s stable yard to the same level as the asphalt footpath. The Mayor reported that owing to the illness of G. Cottier, one of the electrical staff, he had authorised the engineer to engage a man temporarily to take his place; also that he had arranged for the frosting of the windows of the Town Hall as decided on; also that the baths committee had inspected the baths and authorised the usual annual clean-up and some minor repairs found necessary.—The Mayor’s action was approved. It was resolved that, as from this date, all the council’s employees be allowed half pay if sick, for four weeks from date of sickness, if not previously recovered. A vote of thanks was passed to the Stratford Borough Council for the loan of flags on the occasion of Lord Jellicoe’s visit. THE DOMAIN BOARD. The Inglewood Domain Board held its monthly meeting on Tuesday. Present: Messrs. J. R. Sutherland (chairman), W. H. Eagar, D. T. Egarr, R. ’ Fawcett, R. J. Frewin and F. Spurdie. \ Votes of thanks were passed to the Cricket Club for donation of £5 and to Mr. W. H. Eagar for collection of £5 subscription,. towards defraying the cost of repairing the pavilion in the sports reserve in readiness fqr the GovernorGeneral’s visit, as well as to Messrs. Lett and Foster, for painting its roof free of charge. It was resolved that in future the board’s meetings be held on the second Tuesday in each month. MEMORIAL CHURCH. The Vicar of Inglewood, the Rev. R. J. Stanton, has received advice from the Bishop of Jerusalem that the foundation stone for the memorial church planned to be built at Inglewood has been despatched from Palestine for Inglewood, and may be expected here shortly. The building committee have good hopes that it will be possible to begin the building of the new church early next year. On Monday next, 14th instant, Bishop Averill, of Auckland, will consecrate the Kaimata Church, recently built and furnished by Mr. A. E. Burwell.
