RISE IN WOOL. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Oct. 28. The wool sales have closed at the highest rate of the series. There was a good attendance throughout, and bidding from all centres, except America, was brisk, the Home trade giving most support. Top-makers and spinners bought freely to cover oraers. -Jdie selection of merinos was very limited and exceedingly firm throughout. Ttej- closed 5 per cent above the opening rates. Best scoured were 5 to 10 per cent. up. A few merino lambs were offered and met with good demand at full opening rates. Greasy crossbreds appreciated towards the finish, and closed 15 per cent, above September closing rates., Sllpe lambs were firm, short sorts 10 per cent, above September. All scoured crossbreds were 10 per cent, above. There were 45J524 bales offered and fully 90 per cent. sold. LONDON MARKETS. London, Oct. 27. Wheat. —Firm; cargoes dearer. Australian December-February are quoted at 525, parcels December-January 51s 6d: liitVe business in spot Australian, which is nominally 54s ex ship, 56s ex quay. Flour. —Quiet ; Australian 50s ex store. Oats.—-Steady. Beans and peas. —Quiet and steady; peas slow and unchanged. Sugar. —Granulated 49s 9d. At the mixed wool sale there was a very small selection of imerinos. The Home trade was keen on combings and prices were very firm. Crossbreds sold well to Home and Continental buyers. Prices were fully firm. Stipes were again firmer. The Ohoka clip brought 23d, Bell, top price 9d, average B%d. Bradford markets are more cheerful. Prices are firm, and spinners are receiving more home orders. LONDON WOOL SALES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received the following cable from their London office, dated October 28, 1921:—"London wool sales closed firmly on 28th. Compared with closing rates preceding sales, fine and medium crossbred were about 5 per cent, to 7% per cent., lambs 10 per cent, higher.
