CANTEEN FUNDS CASE.
JUDGE’S POINTED COMMENT. By Telegraph— Press Association. Wellington, Oct. 29. A pointed and very definite remark was made by Mr. Justice Hosking this morning, during the progress of an action in which the Commandant of the Trent ham Military Camp and the Canteen Committee of Featherston and Trentham are sueing Thomas Balfour Mason for the recovery of £1251 14s lOd. “It seems to me,” said His Honor, "a most speculative action. Ido not see the least indication of any fraud on the part of this man.” As the crossexamination of defendant had not concluded the hearing was adjourned to a date to be fixed, as Mr. Justice Hosking will be engaged with criminal cases next week.
