At the civic welcome at Durban the manager of the Springboks spoke ‘of Rugby as a sort of religion in New Zealand. For some reason the New Zealanders regarded themselves as champions of Rugby ’ and ignored the Springboks, but the latter had shown that the Africans could play and that the African formation was better. The Africans had also learned much from the New Zealanders. He paid a high tribute to the enthusiasm regarding sport in New Zealand compared with Africa. The All Blacks should be invited to visit Africa..
