FUTURE OF EGYPT.

INDEPENDENCE PROPOSAL. NO DECISION YET. SUGGESTED CONCESSIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright, Received Oct. 28, 7.25 p.m. London, Oct. 27. In the House of Commons, Mr. Lloyd George stated that it was untrue that Britain had practically agreed to all Egypt’s requests. No change would be made in the relations of the countries without a Parliamentary discussion. Cairo, Oct. 25. The negotiations between Adly Pasha, the Egyptian Premier, and the British Government were conducted on the basis: — 1. That British troops shall be confined to Port Said and the eastern zone of the Canal.

2. A British Controller of the public debt will be appointed.) 3. Egypt will have the right of diplomatic representation abroad, but the British Government will retain the right to be consulted concerning all treaties save commercial agreements.

4. Alexandria to be a British naval base, internationally policed. 5. The Anglo-Egyptian. Soudan will remain as at present.

LABOR MEMBERS’ VIEWS. INDEPENDENCE FAVORED. Received Oet. 28, 5.5 p.m. London, Oct. 27. The five Labor members who visited Egypt report in favor of the recognition of the complete independence o-f Egypt and the formation of a treaty alliance between Egypt and Britain, which must be approved by a popularly elected Egyptian Assembly. Britain should advise the E«vptinn Government that an election will immediately be held, and negotiations resumed with a new delegation after the election.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
