THE BOTTOMLEY CASE.
REMARKABLE CROSS EXAMINATION. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received Oct. 28, 8.10 p.m. London, Oct. 27. Horatio Bottomley’s two and a half days’ cross-examination haa concluded. He had several encounters with Mr. Biron, the Magistrate, wbom Bottomley accused of intolerable bias. Mr. Biron asked Bottomley to answer questions and not to make a speech. Elias gave evidence that he admitted discussing with Bigland the question of withdrawing the charges, and also handed Bigland a note containing four questions which were to be put to Bottomley. In cross-examination Elias said he had previ-
ously seen Bottomley and asked him to accept an apology. Bottomley himself wrote Use questions on the paper. Elias denied he was acting as Bottomley's agent in this matter.
Mr. Biron commented that this evidence was of a very extraordinary character, and required a great deal of investigation.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
