The proposal by the Frankleigh Park' Progressive Association to purchase a new electric ’bus to ply between the town and the park was considered by the Westown Progressive Association last night. Messrs. J. S. S. Medley, W. H. Haddrell and A. L. B. Ross were appointed delegates to confer with the Frankleigh Park Association with a view to advancing the proposals further.

The civic address which is to be pre-c-ented to his Excellency the GovernorGeneral on the occasion of the official reception at New Plymouth to-morrow is now on view in the window of the Modern Tailors, Ltd., Devon Street. The address is inscribed with the borough coat of arms, and a number of photographs are enclosed, these including views of Mt. Egmont and units of the Grand Fleet.

The faulty ventilation of the borough electric ’bus was the subject of some criticism by members of the Westown Progressive Association at the monthly meeting last night. On the motion of Mr. V. Davies it was decided to make representations to the Borough Council asking that something be done to remedy the trouble. A Taranaki delegate to the school committees’ conference at Wellington gave as an example of hardship, a district, the school of which was situated in a roadman’s whare, with quantities of gelignite near by. Another delegate complained that backblocks schools did not receive good teachers. Another suggested that backblocks teachers should be paid a special rate over and above their salaries.
