NEED FOR DIRECT WIRELESS. By/ Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Oct. 25. At the annual meeting of the Empire Press Union, Mr. Robert Donald, presiding, said the Imperial Conference had left the wireless situation worse than before. He condemned the British Government’s apathy regarding wireless matters generally. He condemned Mr. Hughes’ declaration for free action by Australia. Sir J. R. Fairfax (Sydney), Sir Stanley Reid (India), and other oversea members spoke strongly of the necessity for the establishment of direct wireless communication with India and Australia.
