LINER ESSEX SAILS.
A RECORD IN DRAUGHT. The liner Essex, a vessel of nearly 9000 gross tonnage, which has been in port at New Plymouth since Thursday last loading meat for the United Kingdom, sailed at 12.50 o’clock this morning for Napier. The vessel was piloted out of the harbor by Captain Waller at about half tide, and, although she was drawing more water than any vessel which has previously been at the port (20 feet for’ard and 24 feet 6 inches aft) no difficulty was experienced in dispatching her. The cargo taken from New Plymouth consists of 29,400 freight carcases of meat, including 3000 railed from Patea, 800 cases of preserved meat, 2*20 bales of wool, and 100 casks of tallow. The Essex will continue loading at Napier and Wellington, sailing finally from the latter port.
