THE FARMERS’ CO-OP. WHOLESALE FEDERATION (N.Z.), LTD. CIRCULAR LETTER TO THE PRODUCERS OF NEW ZEALAND. IMPROVED METHODS OF MARKETING PRODUCE. c |A® mOS * armers are aware > one of the I chief objectives of our several organisations has been, and still is, to! I devise means by which this country’s j ■ produce might, as far as practicable, bei made, available direct to consumers in Great Britain and other . countries, i.e., FROM THE FARMER TO THE* CONSUMER. In .recognition of this desirable policy, some little time ago a movement was ’ started by the various Farmers’ Co-op Associations of both North and South Islands, the outcome being the formation of THE FARMERS’ CO-OPERATIVE WHOLESALE FEDERATION (N.Z.), LTD., the object being, on the one hand,. to care for the collective buying of General Merchandise, and, on the other hand, to sell in the best markets of the world New Zealand Products DIRECT TO THE CONSUMER. We have now established a London Office with a staff of experts fully equipped to handle consignments of MEAT, WOOL, DAIRY PRODUCE, ' GRAIN, Etc,

under the management of Mr. A. E. GOUGH, who, during the war period, was in charge of the Dairy Division of the Ministry of Food, and, prior to that held for many years a prominent position with that great industrial co-opera-tive organisation—THE CO-OPERATIVE WHOLESALE SOCIETY, in Manchester, Liverpool, and other parts of Great Britain. We have also recently joined forces with both the Australian and South African Federations, and thus our London Organisation to-day is already handling large shipments of produce from New Zealand, Australia and South Africa, and therefore in the near future will be in the position to contract with both large and small retailers for continuity of supplies. ALL PRODUCTS TO BE IDENTIFIED “NEW ZEALAND.” Although the three countries above named are working together on these lines, yet we have made very definite arrangements to IDENTIFY THE COUNTRY OF ORIGIN WITH ALL SALES OF PRODUCE. In conclusion, we desire to confidently urge all farmers to entrust their respective Co-operative Associations with the shipment ai.d disposal of their products, and we ask for your co-operation in soliciting and influencing kindred associations to entrust our London Organisation with their business. FARMER RETAINS FULL CONTROL. Our aim is that the farmers, through their own organisation, should retain complete control of their produce from the point of production right to the consumer. Trusting that we may rely upon your whole-hearted support.- —We remain. Yours faithfully, J. A. PANNETT, Chairman of Directors. ‘ FRANK BUSHELL, General Manager.
