IRELAND AND THE KING. LORD NORTHCLIFFE’S DENIAL. By Telegraph Press AssnehiUon. Auckland, Last Night Lord Northcliffe was entertained at luncheon to-day by the proprietors of the Auckland daily nev. jp.ipcrs, and responding to the toast of fate Ik .dth, he referred to the New York incident which resulted in an interview dealing with the King’s attitude to the Irish question being attributed to him. “My one rule,” he said, “is never to explain or complain. 1 never contradict ! these things. 1 never gave an interview 1 of any kind, and immediately I telegraphed . io lib? Majesty, as was my duty, informing ' him of the position, nod this message the King acknowledged? He added that it was absolutely hopeless to contradict this sort, of thing, and he indicated that, the’ bogus interview had never been published in the New York Times.
