(From Our Own Correspondent.) June 12. The Borough Council met on Wednesday last. The Mayor presided over a full attendance of councillors. The 'Farmers’ Co-op. asked for a license to store 1000 cases of benzine. . . A discussion took place on the suitability of the building. Ur. Oger stated that he was under the impression that the council insisted on a concrete- building on a recent application by another fitin. It was decided to issue a temporary license until the new regulation came into force. . The Bank of New Zealand advised that from June 1 the rate of interest on current account overdraft \vould be 7 per cent. The Hospital and Charitable Aid Board forwarded a list of local bodies levies to the board for the current year. Waitara’s quota stands at £2OB 14a, or £26 Is 7d monthly. The Eltham Hydro-electric committee wrote in regard to the setting up of a power board. It was resolved to reply that the council has committed itself to the Progress League’s scheme. •_ The overseer reported that he had inspected the Waiongona river as far its Inglewood and found conditions prevailing en route satisfactory to the supply of’water to the borough.
