Notwithstanding the intention not to piny the day before the tests, the Australians agreed to play from noon to 4 o’clock on Friday on account of the Prince of Wales visit. Play was not taken seriously, Armstrong giving his side, except the wicketkeeper, a (iiance to bowl. The overnight position was that Australia had declared their first innings closed for 533, and Gloucestershire had lost six wickets for 16G. The game was resumed in bright, hot weather, and with an attendance of 7000. The wicket was fast and plumb.
