"BRAN PIE”
BOX PLAN OPENS TO-DAY, The first dip into “Bran Pie” will be made precisely at 7.50 p.m. on Thursday, June IG, in the Empire Theatre, and when the “pie” is opened the “birds” will begin to sing and there will be no doubt as to the “dish” being fit to “place before a king.” The box plan opens at Qollier’s this morning at nine o’clock. It is said that tlie entertainment will be one of the brightest and most musical of musical costume comedy offerings that have ever been presented to the New Plymouth public. The company is nicely balanced in a way that gives a good tone to all its items. The . nging will be of an unusually high order, while therp is vivacity in every ensemble. There is no low comedy in the “pie,” but an abundant offering of wholesome and harmless humor, including some excellent and clever “local gossip.” In this Conner/ion the Courtiers have shown themselves very versatile and without respect of persons have concocted some funny hits. Classical and fancy dancing will be a feature, while new scenas, burlesques, and operatic excerpts will all go to provide an evening’s hilarity. It may bi added that no expenses has been spared in the preparation of “Bran Pie,” and the costuming and scenery are on a lavish scale, While special attention is being devoted by skilled operators to the lighting effects. The Courtiers are ably supported by a full opera orchestra, which gives a sparkling brightness to the whole performance.
