LONDON MARKETS. WOOL SELLING FREELY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright Received June 9, 1.5 p.m. London, June 8. At the Bawra wool sale there was excellent competition, and the whole offerings were sold. The merinos, mostly Continental sorts, met strong German and French demand .at opening ratds. An average selection of crossbred of the 1918-19 clips was actively competed for by the home trade and Continent at full opening rates. Slipes met with good competition at May closing rates. Tallow, 2677 casks offered and 781 sold at about 6d decline. Mutton, fine 355, medium 335. Beef, fine 39s Cd, f medium 345. Ti e demand for apples Is easing slightly owing to - plentiful supplies of strawberries and French cherries. Prices have declined about 2s. , SYDNEY WOOL SALES. Sydney, June 8. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford, have received the following cable from their London office dated June 8, 1921;—“Wool sales opened yesterday. Full attendance, active competition by Continental buyers as compared with preceding series. Closing rates.- Merinos about 10 per cent, higher; crossbred no change. FARMERS’ CO-OP. ORGANISING SOCIETY OF N.Z. LTD. At Opunake on Monday we had a. good yarding of cattle. Practically the whole entry changed hands under tl:e hammer at prices on a par with late rates. Fat and forward cows made to £4 7s, others £1 to £2; dairy heifers, near profit, £9 to £10; cows to £9 12s; forward bullocks to £8; mixed weaners to £2 3s. On the same day we conducted a clearing sale on accouont of Mr. James Lannan, Rapanui Road, Kai Iwi. There was a good attendance of buyers, and a first-class sale resulted. The cows were mostly young and in good condition and early calvers. Competition was keen. Jersey cows brouoght up to £2l, other breeds to £l7, the whole herd averaging £l6 2s. The sundries and horses brought full market values. On Tuesday at Manaia there was a large yarding, which was sold at prices firm at late rates. Best cows made from £5 10s to £6 2s 6d, forward £2 10s to £3 10s, others £1 tp £2, Jersey weaners to £3 16s, others to 355.

On the same day at Ararata we conducted a clearing sale on account of Mr. W. C. Kelland. Some of the cows showed age, but taken all. over good values were obtained. Jersey cows made up to £l7, others to £l5, old sorts to £B. The horses made up to £3O, and the implements satisfactory prices. At Eltham on Wednesday, owing to the rough weather, there was a small entry. However, a satisfactory clearance was effected. Fat cows made £6 ss, store cows late rates, bulls to £2, Jersey cross weaners £5, and '.others to £2. On Thursday at Hawera there was a medium entry, which sold at late rates. Fat owes 15s to 16s, lambs to Bs, fat cows to £6 ss, store cows £1 to £2, small 2-year fat steers £4, Jersey weaners to £5, others to 85s. N.Z. LOAN AND MERCANTILE AGENCY CO., LTD. At Waverley on Friday a big yarding was sold to a large attenedance of buyers, and we report a total clearance of sheep at pliers which • are in advance of late rates. Cattle were dull of sale, very few lines changing hands. We quote: 4 .and G-tooth and four-yeaf Romney Lincoln ewes (in lamb) 18s, 2-tooth Ro/noney Lincoln ewes (in lamb) IGs, Lincoln wethers 14s, mixed ages ewes (in lamb) 8s Cd, Lincoln lambs Ils, Jersey weaner heifers £3. On the same day we held a clearing sale on account of Mr. Archibald Cameron, Ngaere. There was a big attendance of buyers, and a very satisfactory sale resulted. We quote:—Dairy cows (good) £l5 to £2O, others (medium) to £l3 10s, old and inferior sorts £6 10s to £B, half-draught gelding £3l, Shetland ponies £l,O 10s to £l7.
