NAUTICAL INQUIRY.
MISHAP TO STELLA. By Telegraph.— Press Association. Dunedin, June 8. The finding in the nautical inquiry into the mishap to the Stella near Moeraki was that there was laxity on the part of the master, Captain Radford, in not giving definite instructions to be notified when the Moeraki lighthouse was abeam, and that the chief officer, Laver ton, failed in his duty by not notifying the master when the Moeraki lighthouse was abeam, or in default in not altering the course for Taiaroa Head. The chairman said the circumstances did not call for the cancellation of certificates, but the officers should pay ths costs, which were fixed, the master £2 2s, and the chief officer £lO 9s.
