An interesting experiment is being made in an American city in the establishment of a “School for Brides.” At this place even the trousseau is taken in hand, and sensible practical suggestions made. Housekeeping, cooking, and “home beauty” are ail in the course, which latei includes “chummy conversation,” as well as home nursing, etc. This is all very “fine and large,” and quite a good idea, but a “side by side” school -ahould be established for prospective husbands, who need, very often, kindly hints as to tidiness ip the new home, with a dropping of bachelor habits, possibly in the way of late hours. Chummy conversation needs two people to keep going—an occasional absent-minded grunt from behind a newspaper or book is not an incentive. Home nursing is necessary for two. as well as one, for many a wife would s be saved much if her husband had learned how to help in a sick-room. Some men show a natural aptitude for efficient help when there is sickness in the house, but others are extremely helpless. In these days of lack of paid help it is most important for men to be efficient as well as women in the house and the sick-room, therefore, perhaps, sonic other allied society will consider “a school for prospective husbands” on the same lines as that for wives.
