Cable Assn. NEWTON KING, LTD., REPORTS. At Urenul on February 21 a small entry of cattle were yarded, and except for fat cattle the market was lifeless. A fair offering of sheep was submitted to a poor demand, although the bulk of the yarding changed hands. Lamb and wether values were a shade easier than those ruling at recent sales. We quote: Lambs 9s, 9s 4d, sound-mouthed ewes 9s Bd, 10s Bd. f. and f.m. ewes 6s 2d, wethers 14s 9d, Romney flock rams Ign, 2gns, •and 2%gns, fat cows £8 4s, £8 7s, 2%year steer £5 10s. At Stratford on 22nd Inst, the offering of cattle was good and the general tone of the market better. Prices strengthened a shade

for all classes, a full clearance being the result. Sheep showed little movement. Ordinary lambs £1 Is, £1 2s, 15-month- heifers £3 14s 6d, springing heifers £6, £9 15s, empty heifers £5 ss, £6, £7 ss, store cows £3 2s 6d, £4 12s 6d, £4 17s Gd, forward do. £5 2s 6d, £8 ss, £6 15s, boner bulls £2 10s to £3 17s 6d. At Inglewood on 23rd we report a good yarding of both sheep and cattle. Of the former class rape lambs were unostly wanted, and prices remained flrm In consequence. Cattle sold at late rates throughout, the bulk of the offering being eventually cleared. Lambs 7s 4d, 8s 4d, 10s 6d, rape do. 13s Bd, 16s 3d, 6-8-tooth ewes 12s, light store cows £2 10s, £3 12s 6d, better sorts £4, £4 7s 6d, £4 15s, forward do. £5 2s 6d, £5 10s, £6, weaner heifers 30s, Jersey do. £2 9s 6d, in calf heifers £5 3s, 3%-year bullocks £8 7s Gd, boner bulls £2, £3 17s Gd. At Rahotu on February 25 a small yarding came forward and a complete clearance was made at prices on a par with those ruling elsewhere. A good line of lambs met with a ready sale. Lambs 13s, weaner steers 275, 29s Gd, 18-month steers £4, store cows £4, £4 ss, in calf heifers £6 17s 6d, £7, £7 15s, Jersey bull £4 10s. At Puniwhakau on 24th Inst, we held our annual sheep fair, and report a heavy yarding. Attended with good inquiry throughout, with exception of two lines of wethers, everything sold. Quotations as follows.:—2-tooth wethers 16s 2d, cnixed aged do. 14s, mixed aged ewes to 14s, 4-year do. 9s 8d to Ils, iambs 10s Id to Ils Id.

N.Z. LOAN &. MERCANTILE REPORT. The New Zealand Loan ana Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Stratford, repprt as follows : We held our annual sheep And cattle fair at Puniwhnkau on Monday last, the 21st inst., in yards kindly lent by Mr. Thos. Hayes. The yarding was good, but owing to the state of the market competition was not keen. Vendors. however, in most cases met the market, and few pens were unsold. Prices: —F.M. ewes 8s 6d to 12s Gd, culls 5s to Gs, store lambs 10s to Ils, smaller sorts 6s 6d to 7s, 2-tooth wethers 13s 6d to 14s Gd, forward do. 17s Id, culls 6s, 2-year Romney rams 2 guineas, steers £6 2s 6d. In conjunction with Newton King, Ltd., we held our monthly sale at Whangamomona on the 23rd inst., to a fair yarding. The attendance was small, and competition dull.
