DESTRUCTION OF CALVES ILLEGAL.
In many European countries the destruction of calves—especially heifer calves—is illegal. In this country, where plenty of foodstuffs abound, it should be made illegal too. The calves of to-day will be valuable yearlings next season, yet annually thousands of potentially valuable animals are wantonly killed. Ceremilk will yield vigorous, healthy calves, and any dairy farmer knows that the price of good dairy cows is going to increase far beyond the cost of rearing a calf.
