BOROUGH COUNCIL.

MONTHLY MEETING. ' The usual meeting of the New Plymouth Borough Council was held last night. Present: The Mayor (Mr. .las. Clarke), Crs. J. W. Hayden, V. Griffiths, F. 3. HiIL.R. Parkin, W. F. Short, A. S. Brooker, and W, A. Collis. In,connection with the hydrp-eleetric extensions,- the tenders of Anderson's Ltd., Christchurch, for the penstock pipe line No. 2, was accepted. The electrical engineer reported that !ho extension of the electric mains from Dorset Avenue would cost £57, and the likelihood of this extension being made depended on the number of ratepayers it would serve. On the other hand, if the number was too small, the extension would depend on what amount the applicant (Mr. Coleman) was prepared to pay towards the cost. —Referred to che ISlectrio Light Committee. The Taranaki Cricket Association notified ; that ojring ;to the various delays in 'the drafting of fhe lease it would not be possible to carry out the planting and sowing of Reserve T till the autumn. They therefore asked for an extension of the time in the ler.se as regards improvements, to June 30, 1921.—This was agreed to. The resignation: was received of Mr. I H. Hawkins, of. the town manager's office, who has accepted a position with his previous employers in Sydney. He asked to be relieved of his • duties by 18th irist., having to leave by the'Rivcrjna on the 22nd.—The request was acceeded.to.
