INGLEWOOD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The many friends of Mr. H. Petch, late butter-maker at the Moa Dairy Co., will be interested to hear that he has been appointed to a similar position at the Taihape Dairy Co.'s main factory, a promotion of which he may well be proud. His success here is so well known that there is no doubt that lie will justify his appointment to such an important position. A meeting of members of St. Andrew's parishioners was held on Wednesday to make further arrangements for the forthcoming Spring Flower and Bulb Show, to be held on September 16th. ( This is a new venture for Inglewood, and the parishioners are to be congratulated on a progressive move. The funds will be devoted to the new church building. Speaking of flower shows, we often find classes for colors, shapes etc., but why not a class for scented flowers? A blind person cannot enjoy the beauties of colors, nor differentiate between the various patterns or shapes, but what a wealth of pleasure and delight blind people might enjoy from sweet scanted flowers! Quite an interesting competition might also be held, competitor? to be blindfolded, and then be asked to hnme correctly the various flowers by their smell. The St. Andrew's Oirls' Cuild held another successful euchre party «ind dance in the Parish Hall on Monday last, when there was a larger attendance than usual. The proceeds will add an amount of about £5 to the new church fund. Now thittv the railway reserve fronting Moa Street has been cleaned up and\ all the trees and shrubs have been removed and the ground well dug up, work seems to have stopped. It is rumored that the plot is to be sown in grass, and later laid out in flower beds. A few garden seats might be an additional acquisition. We could then admire the band-stand, which apparently does not possess a band. Are there no musical people in Inglewood? There is still room for greater improvement in the town's appearance. The other end of Moa Street, is overgrown with grass and fern .and rubbish, whilst the Matai Street side of the station sadly needs attention. I hear that the "Chateau-de-neces-site" at the corner opposite the post office is likely to be removed to make room for the war memorial. We were glad to send our boys off with cheers, but slow in raising permanent memorials of their great deeds. Why not form a Town Beautifying Society? It might include in the work the blowing up of that famous "chateau," and the cleaning up and planting of Matai Street, and the rest of Moa Street.
