THE MEAT TRUSTS.
SOUTH CANTERBURY OPPOSITION. , By Telegraph.—Press Association. Timaru, August 28. Mr. W. D. Lysnar, chairman of the Poverty Bay Farmers'. Co-op. Freezing Company, addressed a large meeting of farmers from all parts of South Canterbury in advocacy of farmers' co-opera-tion in marketing produce, and in condemnation of trusts and combines. He urged that farmers should give more attention to business, even if less to the farms, and should not leave the thinking to merchants and bankers. -\ The following resolution was carried with two dissentients: "That in the opinion of this meeting of farmers the Government should absolutely prohibit Armour and Co. and Vestey Bros, from operating in any capacity in this Dominion regarding the meat and the freezing industry, as large trusts or combines are dangerous to the true progress of the Dominion."
