The commemorative gates erected at the entrance to the Camp Reserve by the Clifton Football Club havo been made an excellent •job of by the contractor, Mr. F. Lucas. They are now completed, with the exception of the marble slabs. The local committee of the Fire Board met a deputation from the Fire Brigade last night, and discussed various matters of interest to the Brigade. The meeting should result in better working relations between the Fire Board and tho Brigade. Mrs. Howell, who has been proprietress of the Kai Tcke dining rooms in Waitara for n considerable period, is closing her business and is removing to Inglowood, where she intends to contimid in the same lino. An application from Messrs Borthwick and Sons for permission to alter the plans of the nroppseel siding, which tho Council had given permission to construct, was considered at a meeting of the Council on Wednesday, October 22. It was decided tfeat providing Messrs Borthwick and Sons will guarantee the Council against liability for accidents which might ariso through the construction of the siding, and do whatever is necessary to minlmfse the chance of any accident, the Council will give its permission. The official opening of the bowling green is to. take place on Thursday afternoon test.
