STRIKE OF STABLE BOYS. By Telegraph.—P.-eas .Assn.—Copyright. London, Oct. 25. The Epsom stable lads have rejected an offer of 42s weekly, and will strike to-day, demanding 50s. BRITISH INDUSTRIES. London, Oct. 25. The Federation of British Industries, in a memorial, protests to the Board of Trade against the sudden changes in the trade import policy, urging that certain industries be protected during the reconstruction period. BIG PURCHASE OF LAND. London, Oct. 25. Acting as intermediary for the Huddersfield Corporation, Mr. S. W. Croplep, an Australian who is living in Huddersfield, has negotiated the purchase for £1,300,000 of the whole of the Ramsden estate, where the business and residential parts of the town stand. The foundations of the estate date from the time of Henry VTII.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
