(From Our Own Correspondent.) The .chairman of the Taranaki Education Board, Mr. Masters, visited Mangatoki on Friday for the purpose of unveiling the roll of honor, which measures six feet by four, and has been erected in a prominent position in the school, ft is made of native timber, and was designed by Mr. R. Sunderland, woodwork instructor under the Taranaki Education Board. The fine piece of work was carried out by the children under his instruction at the Mangatoki School, and it contains about 70 names, with more to be added. present, and congratulated the hoys on the good work done, and hoped the school would always maintain its present good reputation. On behalf of the staff ani children, later on, Mr. Masters presented the departing master, Mr. Curteis, with a travelling rug. , He stated that Mr. Curteis, during the eight years he had been in Mangatoki, had proved not only a good schoolmaster, but a good citizen of the Empire, taking an active part in the many public and patriotic movements of the district. Hearty cheers were given for Mr. Curteis, who, in the course of his reply, thanked the staff and children for the way they had worked together for the good of the school, also the parents for their assistance in any matter in which he had asked for their co-operation. Afternoon tea was dispensed, and thoroughly enjoyed. At the meeting of the Liberal League on Friday night, at which there was a good attendance of delegates, Mr. D. Astbury was selected as the candidate for Egmont, securing as many votes as the other two combined. The selection has since been approved and confirmed by the^Leader of the Liberal tarty in Wellington.

The report of the Taranaki Hydro-electric League was received. The Wanganui Borough Council forwarded a resolution protesting against the appointment of Mr. Von Zedlitz, an unnaturalised German, as professor of languages at Victoria College.-.—lt was decided to endorse the Wanganui protest. The park caretaker reported having erected a new glasshouse, and that a summer house was being built down by the river, and, as the work just now was heavy, he should be released from the work at the cemetery. After discussion, it was resolved to get a man for the reserves and cemetery. A grant of £ls to Mr. W. Lawson as assistance to his proposed book on Taranaki was passed. Mr. Roy Velvcn was appointed as caretaker of the Town Hall. A picture benefit night for the Eltham | School Committee is being arranged for.
