RIOTS IN PARIS.
CAVALRY m THE STREETS. Keceived May 3, 12.30 a,m. Paris, May 1. Infantry and cavalry reinforced the Gendarmerie to prevent May Day demonstrators marching to the Place de la Concorde. Firemen turned fire hoses on the crowd, who twice broke the military cordons. Many heads were broken in baton charges. Another riotous crowd gathered at the Place de Longera, and shouted: "Down with the Government!" The outlook was uglier at nightfall. Received May 3, 12.1 ft a.m. London, May 2. The Paris riots continued at night Demonstrators attempted to barricade the streets, but mounted troops charged the mob. A great number were wounded, including Deputy Cachin, editor of l'Humaine, and municipal councillor,— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
