Scott (Gisborne), Mrs. Gardiner (Tahora, Gisborne), Mrs Prihcard (Dannevirke). Mrs Sydney Allen (Duiiediii) and Mrs. Bloxam (New Plymouth) were present at the afternoon tea.

Dr. Phoebe Chappie holds the unique distinction of being the first womu.ii doctor to receive the Military Mcilai. Dr Chappie is a daughter of Mr F. Chappie, C'-M.G., of Adelaide, and was awarded the decoration for distinguished bravery under fire. The enemy swooped down in air machines and commenced to play machine-guns on a trench in France provided for the W.A.A.C.'S for shelter against attack. Fifteen were killed quite close to Dr. Chappie, who attended to the wounded with great courage, and without any regard for her own. personal safety.
