THE LABOR PARTY.

AN ORGANISING CAMPAIGN. (Fi-o'n Our Own Correspondent.) Wellington, Jay. 23

Tho Hon. J. T. Paul, who left for Auckland to-day, is putting the finishing touches to the arrangements for the Labor Party's organising campaign. The scheme is to be put into motion next week when the Labor members ol' Parliament will distribute themselves over yie country and begin a series of addresses on the aims and policy and aspirations of their party

Mr Paul and his colleagues maintain stoutly that the Labor Party has been grossly misrepresented by the newspapers, and that a systematic effort is being made throughout the country to discredit it in the eyes of timid and responsible electors. They contend that as a matter of fact the Party is striving only to put into practice the democratic principles both the Liberals and the Reformers are professing ar.d persistently suppressing. The campaigners claim, in miort, llijit they are the true apostles of Liberalism and Reform. The difference between them and the people who call themselves Liberals and Reformers, they say, is that they stand fo: - deeds while the other fellows simply play with words. Thev would be satisfied with the Liberalism of Grey or Bal lance, or even with that of ocddoi:, but they are not satisfied with that of Ward and Massey Of courss, Mr Vciteii, the member for Wanganui is not Inking part hi this new crusade, any more tliar. Mr Hindmarsh would have beer, had lie been spared, 'but if the cruxadevs adhere to the good resolutions with which they arc starting out they need give no offence to anyone holding progressive political | views Their peril lies in the intoxication of their own ze&loua verbosity
