A PROUD OFFICER.
GENERAL GODLEY OT<' NEW ZEALANL) In a letter General Qodley Ins written to the Defence Minister occurs the following passage
"You may be fairly assured that it was not only the gallantry of the New Zealand troops and such leadership and administration of those viho havt been | privileged to command them have been able to provide that have made the New Zealand Expeditionary Force so conspicuously successful, but also all that has been done for us in New Zealand in the regular and ample provision of drafts and their training and the generous supply of money and support in every way, Not one of the Allies or Dominions will have a prouder record to look hack on than New Zealand, and for myself I can only say that to have had the honor and privilege of commanding such a force throughout the greatest war in history will be for all my life one of my proudest recollections. ''One feels now that it is the widows and orphans of those who have bo gallantly fallen and the maimed and mutilated soldiers who claim our first attention, r.iul I am very glad to realise how muni you are doing for all such in New Ztalaud."
